Elmer “Dean” Turner entered into eternity to be with Jesus on Friday, October 23, 2020, in Keithville, LA, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 63 years old. Dean was born on April, 26, 1957, in Mansfield, LA, to his parents, Melvin Leon and Minnie Aileen Turner. He attended both Huntington and Southwood High school, and went on to serve the majority of his career working with The City of Shreveport, where he was loved by many.
Dean is survived by his beautiful wife of 16 years, Katherine R. Turner; loving daughter, Courtney M. Turner; sweet stepchildren Carl Hinton, Paula Cole, Sherry Vann, Scott Hinton, along with their spouses, and their children and grandchildren; and living siblings. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin; his mother, Minnie; and his brother Patrick.
Dean was truly beloved - by family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. You would be hard pressed to go anywhere with him without him bumping into more than a few people he knew. Dean, ever the lawn man, kept quite the garden and could usually always been found outside making improvements to his yard. He loved riding his motorcycle and rode his Harley frequently with some of his closest companions. There is so much more that could be said about Dean, but it can all summed up to him being the most honest and hardworking man.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Peddi and his staff at Willis Knighton Cancer Center, along with Regional Hospice Care Group for the wonderful treatment and care provided during Dean’s valiant fight with cancer.
Visitation will be held at Auld’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 28 from 5p-7p. The funeral will be held at Auld’s Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29 at 11a, with graveside services following immediately after.
