Franklin D. Phillips, 89, of Shreveport, LA passed away peacefully from cancer on Monday, May 9, 2022. Frank, was born in Quinlan, TX on November 9, 1932 to his parents, the late Jim and Cammie Phillips.
Left to cherish his larger than life memory are his wife, Betty Phillips; children: Tom Peterson (Terri), Randy Phillips (Linda), (our mother, Ann Spires), Loretta Young Weaver (Paul) and Jay Young (Angela); 20 grandchildren: Laurie Peterson Corder (Jacob), Trey Peterson (Jennifer – Friend), Brittany Phillips Filiano (Dylan), Nikki Bayard, Wendy Weaver Wolle (Jonathan), Weston Weaver (Kelsie), Angel Burks Berggren, Ashley Baker Bagley (Clint), Brandon Young, Lonnie Young, Jr. (Melinda), Kelley Mehia (Aniceto), Amy West (Jamie), Lori Doherty, Richard Doherty, Bridget Hansen (Jamie); and 27 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Bobby Phillips (Martha) from Terrell, TX and Nellie Phillips Stulce from McKinney, TX; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clayton Phillips, Rudolph Phillips; and sister, Minnie Phillips Latham. He was also preceded in death by sons, Bill Young, Bennie Young and Lonnie Young.
Frank worked in the construction industry for over 40 years and retired as a Master Trim Carpenter. He loved to work with his hands and could build most anything.
He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his entire family and hundreds of friends.
Frank NEVER met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He loved God, his country, family and his hundreds of friends throughout the country.
Daddy Frank, as he was known in the biker community, loved to ride anywhere on the back of Randy’s Harley. He enjoyed taking family bike trips with Tom, Terri and Trey Peterson. He loved to attend bike rallies, Bike Night and any event with his family at 3 State Harley-Davidson where he was a proud member of the 3 State NW LA Harley Owners Group (HOG) Chapter.
The celebration of his remarkable life will be at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home at 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport, LA. 71118. The visitation will be on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The celebration will be on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Pastor Will Simmons of Calvary Baptist Church and Pastor Weston Weaver of New Hope Fellowship in Eunice, LA.
Daddy Frank had so much love and respect for the biker community and wanted to encourage bikers to ride to his celebration and on to the cemetery.
Honoring Daddy Frank as pallbearers will be Bobby Phillips, Jr., Jay Young, Paul Weaver, Lonnie Young, Jr., Weston Weaver and Jacob Corder. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Young, Dr. Wen Liu, Ronnie Dees, Dave Trent and members of the 3 State NW LA HOG Chapter.
