1929 ~ 2022 (age 93)


Funeral services with full military honors for James Monroe Garcia, 93, will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 1050 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport.

The first visitation will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:15 p.m. and the second visitation will be on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Father Francis Kamau and Father Mark Watson.

James was born on February 27, 1929 in Zwolle, Louisiana to Sam and Elvie Garcia and passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 in Shreveport.

James was a resident of Shreveport, Louisiana and worked for the Caddo Parish School Board before retiring. He married the love of his life, Rose Lee Sepulvado Garcia. James served in the Air Force being Honorably Discharged with the rank of Tech Sergeant. He ended his career with the military retiring from Barksdale Air Force Base with 25 years of service. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #3779.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Elvie Garcia; wife, Rose Lee Garcia; brothers, Allen Garcia, Donald Garcia and Sammie Garcia.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jimmie Faye Kershaw (Mary) and husband, Bob, James P. Garcia and wife, Charlotte, Ronnie M. Garcia and wife, Diane, Allen Garcia, Deborah A. McEntyre, Lisa G. Cloud and husband, Ray; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Ebarb and Joyce Leone and husband, Simon; brothers, Herman Garcia and wife, Ella and Pete Garcia.

Honoring James as pallbearers are Mikey Kershaw, Woo Kershaw, John Michael Garcia, Ronnie Garcia, Jr., Simon Leone and Wesley Garcia.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Shaun Leone, Brandon Cloud, Cayden Garcia, Jacob Kershaw, Matthew McEntyre and Gage Brown.
