Funeral services for Jeanette S. Bozeman, 95, of Bossier City, LA will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Buster Page officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at Forest Park Cemetery West in Shreveport, LA.
A viewing will be held Friday, June 12, from 4-7:00 p.m. at Hawthorn Funeral Home in Carthage.
Mrs. Minna Jeanette Slaid Bozeman was born May 4, 1925 in Shreveport. She died peacefully June 7, 2020 at home surrounded by family. Jeanette was the youngest child and only daughter of Wiley Bert and Mayme Elizabeth Booker Slaid. She grew up in Stanley, Louisiana, and was the valedictorian of the Stanley High School class of 1942. She attended Louisiana Normal School (NSU) in Natchitoches, LA.
Jeanette wed her sweetheart James Preston Bozeman on November 25, 1945 and they celebrated 58 years of marriage in Shreveport and Austin, TX. After raising her son Dale, Jeanette taught kindergarten in Shreveport and Austin for 15 years. She was an active member of the Lakeshore Baptist Church in Shreveport and Woodlawn Baptist Church in Austin. Mrs. Bozeman was an avid golfer and was the Women’s Champion several years at the Quail Creek Country Club in San Marcos, TX. She returned to Bossier City to be near her family and lived for 7 years at Bloom in Bosser.
Mrs. Bozeman is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Wesley and Harold Slaid, and her husband James.
She is survived by her son, Dale Bozeman and his wife Michelle of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Katie Schexnayder and husband Doug of Baton Rouge, LA, James Bozeman of Bossier City, LA, Tom Bozeman of Lafayette, LA, Josh Bozeman of Bossier City, LA, and Mary Kate Bozeman of Jackson, MS; great granddaughter, Selene Schexnayder, and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
