Mike was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 29, 1962. He went to be with Jesus on October 28, 2021. In 1969, at the age of seven, Mike gave his heart to Jesus; near the end of the year, he was baptized at Shreve City Baptist Church.

Mike was gifted in many ways. When he was in high school, he was the overall winner in World History at the State High School Rally. He had a B.A. in History from Louisiana College and an M.A. in History at Northwestern State University. He also played in the band at Pineville Junior High School and Pineville High School and the Jazz band at Louisiana College.

He was a talented pianist and played for several churches during his life: First Baptist of Woodworth, Liberty Church, First Baptist Church of Gonzales, Esler Baptist Church. and Church of the Cross.

Mike composed music and wrote many beautiful songs and hymns. Mike also wrote poetry.

He loved reading and collected an extensive library. He liked playing games and working puzzles. He was very good at chess.

He studied the Hebrew and Greek languages and read passages in the Old Testament in Hebrew, the New Testament in Greek, and the Greek Septuagint.

Mike was a Gideon and loved giving away New Testaments. He was overjoyed when anyone listened to him share the good news of Jesus, especially if they chose to take Jesus as their Savior. He was active in the Gideon prison ministry. He also served as the Gideon Card Chairman for the Pineville Camp.

Mike worked in the Appeals Division of the Department of Labor in Baton Rouge. He transcribed Administrative Law hearings. He also worked at Common Ground in Pineville and had many friends there.

Mike went on two mission trips, but the one that meant the most to him was with the Esler Baptist Church Mission Team. They traveled to West Virginia and ministered to the children in Appalachia. Mike treasured that memory and spoke of it often.
