Rosemary Miller Watts, 96, was born February 24, 1926 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Augusta Moses Miller and Euphrasia Leonard Miller and went to be with God, Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Rosemary lived in Shreveport her entire life and was a graduate of Fair Park High School. She was a charter member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and during her late 70’s volunteered at the after school daycare. Rosemary got her first job at 15 years old, working at AT&T. She later went on to work as a switchboard operator at Sears, Schumpert Hospital, and lastly The Oaks of Louisiana until she was 80 years old. Rosemary never met a stranger that stayed a stranger. She and her husband, Joe traveled the world together and she was an extremely supportive and caring wife throughout Joe’s many hobbies and his business, The Razor’s Edge. In her final years, she was lucky enough to find a partner, Jacob, to travel with and spend her final years.

“I have had a great life full of love and troubles. I have had two great husbands, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Love from family, friends, and my church guild. My Catholic faith has helped me though good times and bad. I’ve been blessed with great doctors, family and friends to help me though it all.”

Rosemary will be remembered by her family and friends as an extremely strong, free-willed, and determined woman. She showed them all how to live spherically without wavering their personality or in their beliefs. She will be greatly missed.

Rosemary is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 47 years, Valton Hope “Joe” Watts; son, John Phillip Watts; siblings, Barbara Burrus, Edith Kings, James L. Miller, Dorthy Gleason, Margaret Wycoff, Elizabeth Portales; nephew, Larry Portales; and husband, Jacob Fisher.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark L. Watts; granddaughter, Catherine Williams and husband, Shane; grandsons, Damion Watts and wife, Annie, and Jonathan Watts; great-granddaughters, Sara Chmielewski, Lily Grace Williams, Claire Rose Williams, and Leslie Watts; great-grandson, Nathan Phillip Watts; and too many nieces and nephews to count.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

The family would like to thank Highland Christus Schumpert’s third floor nurse’s station and St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, 204 Patton Ave, Shreveport, LA 71105.
